South Bend is full of unique and interesting sights. Here's where you can expect to snap the best photos.

Have you always wanted to learn to take better pictures? Now is your chance to practice! There are plenty of great locations for taking pictures in South Bend. Check out these scenic spots recommended by our real estate agents.

  • South Bend River Lights - 340 E Colfax Ave
If you're looking for something amazing to practice your photography skills on, what better than one of South Bend's most recognizable sights? Depending on what time of the day or night you go and how good your camera is, the lights may provide good practice for newbies capturing lights on camera or pose a welcome challenge for more experienced photographers.

  • Pinhook Park - 2801 Riverside Dr
Nature is the perfect place to hone your photography skills, and thankfully, South Bend is home to many picturesque parks. Pinhook Park is a large, beautiful park situated on a peninsula of land surrounded on three sides by Pinhook Lake. The lake views, lagoon, and native trees trail all provide ample photography opportunities. Also, be sure to check out the beautiful Angel of Hope Memorial Garden, honoring those who have lost a child.

  • St. Patrick's County Park - 50651 Laurel Rd
Located close to many beautiful South Bend homes for sale, St. Patrick's County Park is perfect for photography because of some of the features that make it so unique. Get ready for fall by taking pictures of one of the largest wooden barns in the country, picturesque tree-lined trails, ponds, and river views.

  • The Grotto - Notre Dame
Located on the Notre Dame campus near the Basilica, the Grotto is a replica of the shrine of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in France. The site is a popular destination for pilgrimages and a site for reflection and prayer, but it's also an excellent place to hone your photography skills. The shrine and the statue of Mary are often photographed, as well as various events such as the commencement "last visit" prayer service for graduating seniors. Be sure to capture the beautiful foliage and other scenery you'll find there.

  • Potawatomi Conservatories - 2105 Mishawaka Ave
Parks are beautiful places to take pictures, but if you need a change of scenery or a place that's out of the weather, check out Potawatomi Conservatories. More than just an indoor garden, Potawatomi Conservatories is a massive greenhouse experience full of lush foliage and a wide variety of different species and ecosystems. Photographer's challenge: Find the new sensory garden and find a way to take pictures that will tantalize the different senses the garden is meant to target.

  • Potawatomi Zoo - 500 S Greenlawn Ave
If you want to practice your photography on something other than nature shots, pack up your gear and head over to the Potawatomi Zoo for the day. With 23 acres filled with around 500 animals, there are plenty of different species and exhibits where you can hone your skills. Best of all, you get to know that your day of photography practice helps animals, too, as the cost of your admission or membership helps to support the zoo.

Don't feel bad if you're not a skilled photographer! Photography is one of those hobbies that can be enjoyed by beginners as well as experts. Plus, the beauty of our South Bend is sure to shine through, no matter what your skill level. To start your search for a home in our photogenic community, contact us today.
