Best Things to Do in Sturgis, MI

Sturgis Michigan Family Fun
Sturgis, Michigan is the perfect small town atmosphere. With sidewalk-lined streets, community parks, and recreational opportunities, it's a great place to live. In the summer, many of those recreational opportunities come to the forefront of life in Sturgis. Here are some excellent ways to spend a lazy summer afternoon for those who buy homes in Sturgis.

Play a Round of Mini Golf

The State Line Golf Center is a great place to have some fun when the temperatures start to go up. With an open 225 yard range, 36-hole mini putt course and a covered range area, this is a great location for a little bit of family fun. If you fall in love with golf while you're there, head to the pro shop to get your own clubs! State Line Golf Center has been a staple of Sturgis, Michigan since the 1950s, and it's recently undergone renovation to allow it to continue to serve the community well.

Head Out on the River

Do you have a boat? Head to Covered Bridge Park in nearby Centerville, which has public river access, and take it out on the river. Enjoy a summer on the water with the close proximity of the St. Joseph River.

Visit a Park

The city of Sturgis has quite a number of attractive parks scattered throughout the community, and many of these have playgrounds and picnic shelters that make an ideal place to enjoy a lazy summer afternoon. Thurston Woods Park on North Franks Avenue is one of the most popular. Tall, mature trees cover much of the landscape to provide natural shade, and a new wooden playground encourages kids to climb and explore. Picnic shelters and nature trails are also available here.

Enjoy a Game at Franks Park

Franks Park is the Sturgis sports complex. It has seven soccer fields used by area youth programs. Families with children often spend their summers on the sidelines cheering on their young players. A play area gives siblings a place to play during the games.

Play Some Tennis at Langrick Park

Langrick Park has tennis courts, handball courts, and a sand volleyball court, providing a place for people to play sports all summer long. A playground rounds out the amenities here, and it's a great summer hangout.

Take a Class at the Doyle Community Center

The 75,000-square-foot Doyle Community Center has an indoor walking track, indoor and outdoor athletic courts, instructor-led fitness classes, strength training facilities, and exercise equipment. Affordable membership means that residents can enjoy these facilities all summer long, even when the weather outside isn't conducive to active outdoor play. The Doyle Community Center has sports leagues for kids and adults as well.

Enjoy a Stroll Downtown

Downtown Sturgis is packed with quaint shops and restaurants for your enjoyment. Take a stroll along the sidewalk and discover a new favorite in the summer! Regular summer events make it even more appealing to spend time downtown.

Summer's a great time to explore the charms of Sturgis. It's also a great time to shop for a new home. Our real estate agents at Cressy & Everett Real Estate are ready to serve you. Contact Cressy & Everett Real Estate today for help finding your next Sturgis home.
